Questions on stories and writing which would be lovely to have answered.
1) Usually, with writers block, I ask my older sister or a friend what they think about my story, or what would they like to see happen in it. My sister and friends are very supportive of my writing, which is awesome and I appreciate. But if they are blank like me, I take a break and clear my mind, and getting inspiration from movies, other books or things in my life help as well.
2) I plan my stories all out, usually. I like to write the plot out beginning to end. I even sometimes will write the entire story out and have my friends read it before I even post, so if I need to change something I'll catch it before I post. But, yeah, occasionally I won't like something I planned in the story in the future and will change it. But I never wing a story, and never will.
3) I plan my characters out on how I see them or how they work in the story. I don't plan them out on what people want to see. In their minds if they wanna picture someone else, go for it by all means. But I like to use people for my characters that fit the roles well. I'll go through celebrities and find who I think best fits. I usually don't like to use a celebrity that gets over used, like Ariana Grande or Lucy Hale for my main girl character. And for planning the character out by like what they do or how they think, I do that before I even plan anything else with the story.
4) I have this pretty big idea I want to dig into in the future. My sister and I have been planning it longer than any other story I've ever worked on. She's a journalist, and I love to get advice and help from her or plan a story with her. I'm hoping this story might go somewhere. Probably not lol. But I'm not going to give up. It's a psychological thriller titled The Perfect Family. That's all I'm gonna say about it. I'll have further details later.
5) To definitely prepare. Never just whip up a story and expect it to become huge. Writing does take time, and it does take time for people to notice your work and the effort you put into your story. There has been many times before where I just want to completely stop writing. But I tell myself, did Stephen King stop writing because he wasn't getting any reads or people didn't like his ideas. No. He kept trying like everyone else who wants something. And I'd also tell others to never doubt yourself. And also to get involved with others and make friends and socialize about books or writing or other interests. Reading a lot helps you become a better writer as well. Three words that I dedicate my writing to; Patients, Passion, Persistence.

thank you for all the advice and insight. i really appreciate it and i'm sure anyone else who reads this thread will as well. you seem to thoughtful and practical with your thoughts and it definitely shines through with your writing :)
@theodoramae.
Thank you! That means a lot. I love sharing tips and giving a bit of an insight into how I write. And same for you, you're a very talented writer. I see such dedication and passion in your writing. And that's hard to find.
1)) Just think about your story, the ideas you have in mind, and just calm yourself. Sometimes it can get frustating, but you have to keep calm and focus on the main ideas of your story.
2)) A "yes" to both parts. At times I can hear a verse in a song and boom! i got me a new story. Or others.. I sit and think and plan throughout the entire story so I know exactly what I want. But whatever works for you will always be the best choice.
3)) I try to use people who fit the look and character traits of the person. For instance, I often use girls with blonde hair & blue eyes (don't judge) so I try to find that person that fits the physical looks but will show the similar mental aspects and stuff like that. Basically, just pick some one you think will do perfectly fine in the story and who relates to what you want your character to be like.
4)) There isn't really anything I haven't written about before. Normal, punk, vampires, werewolves, the hole preacher's daughter stuff, I've basically hit around every topic before. So there isn't really anything I don't prefer to read or write.
5)) In order to succeed, in my opinion, you have to accept yourself and your work. If you don't believe in your writing talents, then you will probably think your story sucks. But, as long as you believe and you agree with yourself that its what you want, you'll be okay. You just have to realize that its your story, don't try to fit into any writing cliques. Just be yourself, and do whatever makes you happy :)

do you mind if I PM you something?
- Music sedation. It sounds trippy but I put on some relaxing music as high as it can go (music that fits the theme of where I want to go with my story) and I just sit with notepad open. So inspirational music is a def yes. With me that ranges from Beyonce to Oh Wonder .
- Both. Somedays I just write the whole plot, with Once Again I'm just winging it. And sometimes, I get parts of the story I want to use later on and so I type those out and use them when the time comes.
- I like to draw from the person I wish I was. Or I will make characters that people will relate to. Somedays its just crazy random shit lol
- I hate incredibly gorey horror and if I write about them I have shit load of twisted dreams...
- Just love it. Don't give a fuck about haters, and if you are passionate about your story keep on with it. I'm not good at inspirational quotes. I hope that was okay though xD
1. Is there a way you get around writers block? What works for you?
2. Do you ever come up with a single sentence or scene idea and work out everything from there or do you have everything meticulously planned?
3. How do you come up with characters to use? Do you use certain characters over others because you think people will have a better reaction toward them?
4. Is there anything you wont read or write about and why.
5. What's the best advice you could give someone in regards to accepting their own work.
