Call me a bitch but...Zayn...

I understand a lot of people are devastated over Zayn quitting, but I have to ask. I get that he's under a lot of stress, I get a member of a group leaving for personal time but...does it not seem selfish that he's quitting? I mean loads of artists fuck up but they don't quit. They push through. Vince Neil killed his friend. He stayed in Motley Crue. Robert Plant lost a kid. He stayed in Led Zeppelin. ACDC lost their fucking singer. They auditioned for a new one. Maybe pop groups work different but I just feel like this shows a lack of dedication. Call me a bitch but I just can't quite sympathize with him. Maybe the fans since they're losing an idol but I can't sympathize with him.

Oh well... *cue unpopular opinion puffin*

I do see where you're coming from, I mean, I had the same conversation maybe two weeks ago with my friend saying how they're gonna leave and stop and quit and stuff. I got really annoyed because she wouldn't accept that because she loves and adores them so much and stuff.

I'm not exactly sure how ‘selfish’ it was exactly, because obviously they weren't going to stay together much longer. Zayn obviously wasn't happy anymore. We got a solid five years out of him, but what did you expect, is the question. He's a 22 year old man, not a 17-year old boy. They're in a boyband. In my opinion, they wrote good songs, because I love them and adore them, but they were too old for the audience (maybe 11–17 year olds, maybe a bit older) that they had.

Amen sister! Totally going to sound coldhearted as well but I agree with you. The terms on which we've been told he'sd left on a little subpar to what I would have expected. Least he could have done was end the current tour. This whirlwind bullshit just makes management and himself come off a little selfishly.

I agree love.. and it does seem like they are being quite unfair to all of the fans who have been expecting to see all five of the lads... One direction isn't complete without zayn.. But in another perspective.. maybe it was too much for him to handle. Everybody is different and zayn seems like the type of person who can get hurt easily and all these rumors made things worse for him...
I understand his decision.. but I can't help but feel like he should've atleast held on for the fans who do dearly love him.

I mean, I've said before I'm not a Directioner, I just came here to write but I still think this is unfair to the fan base (maybe selfish was a strong word). There are girls who paid top dollar to see the group, the WHOLE group. There are really dedicated people out there willing to support him in any decision which I think is good. And I've always been a sucker for artists who are good to their fans which is why this bugs me. Like WHY is Zayn leaving? Is he stressed? Is he trying to grow up? Hell, SeReNiTy posted something about him violating a contract, so what is it? I really think that if he cared at all, he would either specify or say "just hold on for now and I'll explain everything later".

And for the love of whatever high power is out there, I feel like he could at LEAST finish the tour dates.

From what SerenitySosa has posted - Idk what to believe. I think it's a little bullshit that he'd hav been hired by management for such an elaborate scheme :/

..and no, I don't think selfish is a harsh word to use. Travis Barker was in a plane accident and used any other mode of transport he could whilst in therapy to get to countries to play. Hell he said straight out for Oceania and the Pacific he'd sail if it meant keeping fans happy. I know it's not the same as Zayn's situation but the lack of consistency and dedication on his behalf is very weak.

My first concert was Motley Crue and their drummer, Tommy Lee, had burnt his hand a few shows before the one I saw. But even though he couldn't play, he still came out and greeted the audience, he sang with the band, he (tried) rapping, he bowed with the guys and the substitute drummer at the end of the show lol I just really feel like Zayn being so inconsistent is just cheating the fans who have supported him for so long.

And since SeReNiTy introduced us to a whole new reason why he supposedly left doesn't make it any better (not that I'm blaming her, it just shows how many stories are out there that may or may not be true).

And I hate, hate, HATE to be that person, but if he's stressed then let's be honest...he signed up for it. I dunno, I just think it's unfair to the fans.

@Call_Me_Godot
mhm, when he auditioned he knew what he was signing up for.

Guys..... I think that maybe, just maybe. Once he's in much less stress, he will understand how he's maybe hurt some people. But maybe, he will rejoin.

I hate to be the party pooper but I don't think he'll rejoin. Too many factors have come into play now.

I haven't read this conversation, so I apologize if i repeat something that has already been stated but personally I think it's quite selfish of YOU for not being sympathetic towards the circumstances that he is under. For starters, Zayn has always been pretty introverted so this automatic shove into the spotlight couldn't have been easy for him to adjust to, especially when he primarily wanted to help his family financially. He's now been able to achieve what he had originally wanted to. On top of this, we would be horrendously selfish to ignore how much he's been struggling with personal issues in the past year or so, and guess what? He's been trying to deal with these issues for this long. He TRIED okay? And guess what else? He's a 22-year-old human being that gets stressed with life just like everyone else does. Just because his career is a global phenomenon doesn't mean that he doesn't have a right to take care of himself first and foremost. For many of us, One Direction has saved / altered our lives for the better, and for some, my self included, owe their lives to these five boys. They're my rocks and without them, I wouldn't be here anymore. Unfortunately, they don't necessarily have their versions of "One Direction" in their lives and I'm guessing if they do, it appears in forms such as being with their family, friends, and loved ones who truly understand who they are. And guess where Zayn is now.... Home. I'm not saying that my heart is not breaking from his courageous decision, in fact I spend most of yesterday crying, however, I'm SO proud of him for taking care of himself and doing what he needs to do to save himself. If this continued, he could've become MUCH worse or suicidal even and that is the LAST thing that we want to happen. They've saved us on so many different levels and we need to respect his wishes and his decisions to do what's best for him. We owe him that at least. So please don't be selfish just because he won't be singing with them anymore. He's a person just like you and me who goes through stress and depression just like you and me. Please understand that I'm not trying to accuse you of anything, but I do really think you need to look at this from a different perspective. <3

All the love <3

Okay so if he left, do you people not realize why??? One reason, he can’t even use the bathroom in a public place without people trying to take pictures. We put the most pressure on them, even if we don’t realize it. If you spend all your time Stalking Twitter, Instagram, & Facebook, then you’re one of the reasons. You judge him and that makes him feel horrible and depressed. IF WE KEEP THIS UP, THEN ANOTHER’S GONNA LEAVE SOON, BEFORE YOU EVEN KNOW IT. But yet, we wonder why he left.
So, here’s what we all need to do: STOP. PUTTING. PRESSURE. ON. THEM. & STOP. THE. STALKING!!
#quit-it #dontbestupid #we’rethereason #andwewonderwhy

I understand he was under presssures we probably will neber understand or endure, and whilst I can see the side you guys have mentioned well... I still think it was badly times and a little unprofessional on his behalf. Musicians, actors, sporting stars etc all deal with the same issues. They did back in the 40s and will well into the future. I think the issue could have beeN handle better.

I also don't think he thought this through. The time off he took wasn't long enough to make a decision this big in my honest opinion.

@JoseyWhite
I understand the pressure but as I stated earlier, he knew what he was signing up for. I know artists have problems. My idol is Axl Rose of Gn'R who's bipolar, suffers from depression, has anger issues, and frequently had suicidal thoughts. And the man is STILL one of the world's most talked about musicians. lol he hasn't been able to take a piss in private since 1986 before Appetite for Destruction dropped. BUT I truly believe Zayn is being selfish by not even bothering to clear up why he's leaving or expressing a want to talk about it later. He just up and left. Most people will at least either say why or say "hey, I'll tell ya all about it later". Like I said, I'm not a fan. I just came here to write. I just really feel like the dude's cheating you guys. If it was anyone else in a band I DID like, I'd feel the same way (actually I do about Black Sabbath since Ozzy and Geezer are clearly liars).

Sorry, I get what you're saying but it's not like I'm saying he can't take care of himself either. I just think it's wrong when ANY artist can't even properly explain why they're leaving.

@Call_Me_Godot
No one knows what they're signing up for when they choose to pursue this career. We can only DREAM of what it might be like so don't sit there and act like you understand because none of us do. And quite honestly... it's none of our damn business WHY he needed to leave. He shouldn't have to feel obligated to give us details on his PERSONAL life. It's personal for a reason. And you know what? Nobody is perfect, and we really don't have a right to judge his decisions. If you're not an actual fan, I'm not sure why you have such a strong opinion on Zayn NOW, rather than when he actually started having problems. And if you read the statement he said something along the lines that he feels it's the best decision for his life right now, and that he wants time to be a normal 22-year-old with privacy and that should be reason enough to leave him alone about it and respect his decisions until / if he decides to go into detail about it later. I'm sure he has PLENTY of reasons for why he left, but like I said, it's really none of our business. This was probably one of the most difficult decisions he's ever made in his life, and honestly you don't have a right to judge him or to be unsympathetic towards something that none of us can truly understand unless you have a close relationship with him. Leave him alone, and let him deal with his personal problems. It's ADMIRABLE that he's actually helping himself, unlike a lot of other icons (as unfortunate as that is for them).

@JoseyWhite
One-why are you getting so mad? I think it's unfair to the fans, people like YOU. I'd be pissed if one of my favourite musicians did this.
Two-no, I don't understand but neither do you. And looking back at past celebs, I think it's obvious that if you agree to join a boyband you WILL be marketed and you WILL become a huge logo and you WILL get harassed by paparazzi and never live a normal life. That's obvious.
Three-If it's none of our business, then why are you even arguing this with me?
Four-since I'm not a fan it's pretty obvious why I'd have an opinion now rather than before.
Five-Like I have no right to judge Zayn, you have no right to judge me.
Six-it's not like you have a personal relationship with him either.
Seven-you arguing for him with someone he's never going to meet is as ridiculous as you think me poking and prodding at his problems is.

@Call_Me_Godot

You're accusing one of my idols on a website literally dedicated to them.......duh i'm going to get defensive. This is really hard for us and you are just making it worse. Please have some respect for that fact. And did I say I was judging you? Lol no, did you see my first reply at all? It wasn't until you kept arguing with me that I got defensive and a tad more agressive. Seriously don't play victim right now lol. I came to the forums section of this website to be there for the people that maybe need a virtual shoulder to cry on, or some reassurances on how to look at this with a positive perspective. And i'm not "poking and prodding" at his problems, it's called I'm a fucking Directioner and i've been paying attention for the past 4 and a half years. I'm not a pissed off fan because I care about his well-being just as much as I care about the music. You're not even a fan, so you posting on this website in this manner was a pretty bold move. This conversation is over because you're clearly not going to understand anything that I'm telling you.

@JoseyWhite
I'm vocalizing an opinion I have about him? Why is that wrong? I'm arguing FOR his fans. And there are other people agreeing with me. It's not like I came out and just blatantly insulted him. I say waaaaay worse things about artists I DO appreciate. And I'm not playing victim. I didn't continue to argue with you. My first post to you was explaining to you what my feelings were. Then you got defensive. I said I, ME, MYSELF, CALL ME GODOT, was poking at his problems, not you. I never called you a pissed off fan. And go ahead and say it's over. It's my post anyway. Ciao.
