Psych Hospitals and Meds
@DestroyShelbeyy
I'm so glad someone had put such a positive spin on things. My sister went to a local psych - house the other week because she suffers from SplitPersonality. She's the strongest girl I know and everytime she comes back home, y I u can tell she's had a positive experience and the staff have worked their hardest to make sure shes okay.
@ohsugar.
Oh that's so great. I'm so happy for your sister. It's not an easy life to live with mental illness but happiness is possible!
**DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL**
This post is to break the stereotypes of psychiatric hospitals/medication.
First off: I have bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and seasonal affective disorder
I tried to kill myself last week, but fortunately my friend called the police. I went to Pine Rest for the fifth time in my life time and it's nothing like you see in the movies or on TV. There are no straightjackets, there are rarely people "freaking" out and the classes are actually extremely helpful. You talk about your feelings, digging really deep. Each day is a different subject: Anger, Depression, Loss, Anxiety. Now this is just how it was at my hospital.
Honestly, the worst part was the food.
Now, onto meds, like I said--I'm not a professional. I'm not a therapist or psychiatrist but I have been on a lot of different meds. I'm currently on 5 of them, at high doses. But not everyone is like that. JUST BECUASE YOU'RE ON MEDS DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE CRAZY. IT MEANS YOU'RE STRONG AND CARE ENOUGH TO GET HELP.
If you are self-harming, please at least come message me. I want to help! No one deserves to suffer with depression and anxiety. Please. Seek help.
