Graduation Dress[?]

As a 13-year-old with no sense of style, who would rather wear sneakers and t-shirts everyday than to put on sparkly tops and designer jeans, I could really use some fashion advice. I have my junior high graduation coming up on May 27th, and pretty much everyone in my grade is already talking about their graduation dress. I, however, really dislike shopping - and I mean absolutely hate with a burning passion - and really need a dress.

So where do girls my age shop for dresses (publicly because online is even worse for me)? I have pretty much no sense of style, so anything you can advise me on helps. Please don't say Forever 21 because I had to ask for directions out of there after getting lost, and nothing really appealed to me in there. My friend and I are actually planning to wear a sparkly pair of Converse (color not yet decided) with my dress (whatever it may be), so if you have any suggestions or advice for me for picking out a dress or where to get it, that would be amazing!

@ThatRandomUnicorn
Stupid question! But are you based in the USA?

ps: nothing wrong with converse with a dress! I was a in a wedding where all the bridesmaids wore that. Looked awesome :) x

Firstly, oh my gosh, you got your account back - how was I not informed?! Anyway, yeah, I am based (I'm assuming that means live?) in the USA. :)

@ThatRandomUnicorn
I know! I am so freaking excited! <3

Okay, so when I was living in the US, I had a couple of formally events :/ Yeah, I guess that's what you could call them. I'm not sure what state you're in but I'd try H&M & Macy's. The latter has an awesome juniors section which you might find something in.

Is there any particular style you're going for?

edit: with that link, check out cocktail party as well.xx

@audreydeville
I'll be sure to check out those stores!

For the dress, I'm not really sure what I want. I'm extremely… picky when it comes to shopping, mainly because I hate shopping. I know what you're thinking: "What kind of thirteen year old girl hates shopping?" My answer is me simply because clothing choices are hard and style is the least of my concerns.

@ThatRandomUnicorn
Didn't think that at all. I'm the same way; if I could order everything off line I would because I hate shopping complexes, department stores of any kind, the rush of people eager to get their hands on something, the annoying younger kids who are hiding in clothes racks waiting to scare people, the chaustraphobic feeling during a sale... the list goes on.

Same here. My mom won't probably let me go shopping for a dress or shoes or whatever because I am the youngest so I'm kinda spoiled snd she's having a hard time facing the fact that I'm growing up. So I'll probably just some girly shirt and knee-high skirts. That she's probably going to choose for me. (WHICH ISNT REALLY MY TYPE OF STYLE.) Being the youngest sure has its perks and that thing to that impression a failed using.

That's the thing though, I'm also really against online shopping. First, you have to find the dress, and then you have to figure out what size you wear - if they have it even. Then you spend a few weeks waiting for it, and when it finally comes it either won't fit you or doesn't look as good as you thought it would when you found it online.

@MelzLove
I would actually love to be the youngest. Being the oldest sucks because your little sibling looks up to you, and you're the first for everything. Sometimes being first sucks because you have no idea when it's time for you to stop shopping in the little girls section at Target though you very well know it's only time before you can't squeeze into those 14/16 and XL clothes. My mom just doesn't understand that I need to start shopping at more age appropriate stores, and I need to figure out what exactly are age appropriate stores.

@ThatRandomUnicorn
You do have a point there! An extremely valid one at that. I can't say that I have the same problem though because I only buy things from two online stores and the sizing stays consistent throughout.

I do really hope you find something! Maybe make it your mission to be in and out with a dress in under an hour? Let us know how you go either way!

@ThatRandomUnicorn
Yeah. I do online shopping but it's usually items like a new case for my tablet or a bracelet or a book or somthing but that's all. I do go to macys but with those prices my mom won't let me get no dress. Classic Hispanic mom.

In the mall where I live everything is basically everywhere. Don't you have like a map or somthing infront if son elevator or anything to know where you're going? In my mall, you got dots infront of macys while my moms like ' YOURE TOO YOUNG FOR THAT ARE YOU A SLUT NOW! I DID NOT RAISE MY DAUGHTER TO BE A SLUT RADARADARADA!' I stopped going to children's place in sixth grade. FREAKING SIXTH GRADE.

H&M has awesome dresses. Macy's, jcpenny. I shop online at like necessary clothing, and topshop. It depends on your style too! Charolette Russe has some nice dresses too!

Ummmm...Macy's style lab maybe they have awesome dresses there its where I am begging my mom to take me to get a dress for a gala I have to go to and I totally get getting lost in forever 21 the where we live is 2 stories and I can never find my way around it

Thank you, everyone who commented! Honestly, it didn't even matter because my mom just ended up dragging me into about every store with dresses in three different shopping malls in various cities. Well, three shopping malls and 28 stores (not even joking) later and I finally found a dress that I liked. I did end up going to most of the stores you all mentioned, but I really am that picky of a shopper… I would post a picture of it, but the website of the store I got it from won't let me copy and paste and I can't copy the link at the moment either.

I can't even describe it because I don't know clothes other than the general article, so let's just say it's a dress and out of 28 stores, I actually liked this one. Thank you, again, to everyone who helped point me in the right direction even though I still ended up going all those places with my mom to find it. :)
