I am losing hope...

OK, please hear me out. 1DFF.org is the only site where I barely get any feedback on my story.

I know that I am not as involved as I could be but writing around 6k per week, while handling real life, Uni and a part time job is stressful enough.

I still spend some time and effort to post my story here but it seems that only like two to three people care. So right now I am thinking of just not coming here anymore.

I feel truly discouraged to update again. I wanted to post my story on here too because I know that not everyone has an account somewhere else but frankly I just believe that my story isn't cut out for this site.

So yeah, this is like a last cry for help. Just wanted to ask what you guys would do in my situation...
Just gonna wait and see no one answer...which would give me the answer I am looking for.

Don't give up on you story! It might jut need a head start on getting there. I have to write at least eight chapters before I even get a comment. So just don't lose hope on your story. :)

@Harry_Louis_Niall_Liam_Zayn
but that's the thing, I am not losing hope on the story, just on the site. It takes time to edit the chapter so that I can post it here and if I don't have readers here I don't really see why I should do it...my story is already 32000 words long, I've got 14 subscribers apparently but I barely get one review per chapter...
I will still continue to write I just don't really see much sense in using this website any longer.

Thank you for your words, I do appreciate them, I am just slightly fed up with the site. Especially since I rewrote this story and when I published it the first time people loved it. Now the story is even better but no one reads it because no one even clicks on it.

Oh.

@TheKat

Do NOT take down your story from this site. I was just getting around to review it (something you asked me to do quite a while ago; I'm the author of Fanfiction 101 incase you're lost), and I honestly think it's one of the best fanfics I've read. I've only read like the prologue and some of the first chapter, but it is seriously amazing!

If I were you, I wouldn't stop posting. Honestly, I'm kind of on the same boat as you. I barely get any feedback after I take time to write. It bothers me, but I still continue because even those occasional comments are encouraging. I think it has to do with the fact that barely anyone has time to be on anymore and comment and explore new stories. By summer, this site will be booming with more people, and with more people coming back on, you'll get more feedback.

You absolutely cannot stop posting on this site. This is the only site I really go on for reading and writing and stuff, so if you stop updating on here I won't be able to read your story anymore. I may be only one person but I care and I really hope you continue to post using 1DFF.org.

@ThatRandomUnicorn
OK, I will keep updating here then and I hope that you are right. I am just a bit dissatisfied that I invest time in a site were the members don't really seem to care whether I post or not.
But I do hope you are right, that it'll change now.

I know sometimes this fan fiction can be a little.... discouraging especially when it comes to writing fan fiction because some authors are like really good! But your one of the writers that are REALLY good!

Please don't take it down I just realized you posted it on this site I had been reading it on another site (1DFF.net) and your story is amazing!!!!!!

I actually love your story! Especially sturmflut. I think that the main reason is when you update or how frequent you update! If you update mid-day 3pm-4pm which is when most users are online you get more views! Ask for reviews, and look into co-authoring. It helps you gain friends, and potential readers! I usually write about 3.8-4.6k on every story, but i try and update during the popular times where readers will be willing to read it too!

@Missesonedirection94
Thank you for your kind words. I will defo try to keep posting here, maybe things will get better.

@lyrics.tell.my.story
Well I am posting it on several sides, but ok, I will see what happens after the next few updates.

@dontjockmystyles
I am somewhere in germany, time zones are a huge issue, I have actually no idea what time it is for most readers. I often try to update so that it's midday in the US, but idk if it works.
I am asking for reviews, I am always putting Sturmflut up for critique, co-authoring sounds like a great idea but I do not play well with others when it comes to writing, I am pretty stubborn.
But thank you for your suggestions.

@dontjockmystyles
What do you mean by "write about 3.8-4.6k on every story" 3.8k words? characters? :)

@TheKat @dontjockmystyles

My chapters are around 2k words and that is a bit different if you do 6k. I get a feeling (without reading your story) that maybe they are too long? If you could split them up into smaller chapters? I think people want to have well written chapters they can read, but for not too long. I would rather split up the chapter. But that's only my thought. I can have it wrong.

There are a lot of stories which become "big" on this site that aren't even close to good written. So I don't know... I don't even know how I got my readers! :/ luck?
If someone tell me why they read mine, then maybe I can understand! :P

@swedishfan
Yea about 3.8-4.6k in words per chapter. It varies depending on my creativity, but around there. Also I am subscribed to Sturmflut by The Kat. 6k is quite normal. Without it there wouldn't be enough information, and as she updates once a week . . . it's sort of understandable. It all really depends on the readers. Some find long chapters a drab, and some find it fascinating. Her work is truly magnificent, and she deserves way more than she has.

@swedishfan
well, as @dontjockmystyles pointed out, I need to have all the information in my chapters. Like I really can't make them any shorter. But it really works for the story.
Maybe I just need to wait until I get lucky someday...

@Yariel
Hi :-) I am fairly easy to befriend. And I will keep posting but right now I am am bit stressed, so I need to look into the - one chapter per week - thingy, at least until my semester is over.

I do get it. I also like longer chapters, it's easier to really get into a story. Some people in here do 500-1h chapters and that's no way enough.
But maybe people read these stories more like short stories and not like books? I don't know. I'm speculating.

But do keep on writing, don't let anything stop you! :) Try to update on different times, then you get people from all over the world who sees it and get to read it and fall for it. :)
I too don't live in the US and isn't on any of their timezones. But tried to update different times of my day (and night) to see when most people read it :)

@TheKat
Asdfhjjkl; I love your stories especially Sturmflut! You're an amazing writer, and maybe one of the best ones on this site. I really wish more people would read your stuff, but just know that your writing is still absolutely amazing!

@swedishfan
right now it isn't even that not enough people read it, the story has over 2k views, but every time I update I get one comment, if even. I might get one or two votes. I have a total of 14 comments on nine chapters, it only says I have more because I often answer...
But yes, I will update during different times, have done that already and the best time is around midnight my time....which is like GTM +1

@This_crazy_girl
Thank you sweetie, your answer made me smile. Yeah, somehow I still hope that things will take off, but I've already posted over 53000 words...I just hate the wait.

TheKat TheKat

@TheKat
I think (only from my own point of view) that it can be the length. because when I start a story and the chapter is so long, I feel like it's too much and think "I save it until later" and later never comes. But, if I'm already hooked on the story, I wouldn't mind if the chapters were long. So maybe the first 2-3 chapters should be shorter to get people hooked? I don't know.

I don't know if that made sense :P

Just trying to brainstorm a reason. :)

swedishfan swedishfan

@swedishfan
yeah, I do fear that people shy away due to the length, hence why my prologue is only 1k long...it should be exiting enough to make you want to read more.
So great input, thank you so much for that, but I kinda dodged that bulled, or so I thought.

I can't make my chapters shorter, it's literally not possible. But I do believe that it's worth peoples time. So I'll just continue to hope.
